Despite the name, Police Pistol Combat (PPC) is a handgun shooting sport that is open to all individuals. If you're a shooter who demands skill, accuracy and control but isn't interested in beating the clock or hurdling terrain then PPC is the sport for you. Shooters train and compete at a variety of target distances ranging from 3 to 50 yards. Standing, kneeling, prone and barricade supported positions are all implemented in regular match play.
PPC is a handgun-only sport. All you will need to compete is a modern 9mm or larger caliber revolver or semiautomatic pistol and a set of iron sights. Shortened revolvers are allowed as are other minor modifications.
The Guelph Rod and Gun Club maintains a large 50 yard outdoor range exclusively for PPC shooters. The range is surrounded by a 12 foot backstop and is divided into 11 shooting positions with barricades at 25 and 50 yard distances. The range is shielded from heavy winds and is lined with sound dampening materials resulting in an ideal course for accuracy.
